PREMISE :
Rat can be friends with Human; rat need not be killed
CENTRAL IDEA :
In the mist of a sleep, Dad killed a Rat, Girl, fast asleep, could hear what was happening, but never got up to find out what had happened. Soon, noise died out...lights off.
Door opened and Girl found herself at the doorstep, she became tiny. She saw the Rat and Rat took her for a ride, telling her how and why Rat came to the flat.
The next morning, newspapers headline : Girl missing...suspect unknown.
Girl and Rat had gone to see the rat community. They lived in a dingy, half-broken, wooden house. Panning across the room, a mother rat ran with six kids following closely behind her. Next, Girl saw that the Rat community were eating scraps of food that were soaked with detergent. As a result, when the rats were talking, bubbles emitted out of their mouth. Meanwhile, on the TV, a program showed how a brain exchange was possible between Rat and Man.
Enough of the unfortunate incidents, Rat brought Girl to a land of Toadstools where the rats were
playing happily. A fellow rat was seen sliding down a huge toadstool.
As they walked through a field of poppy flowers, Girl saw the newspapers headline that she was missing; this reminded her she should go home soon. They soon arrived a cliff. It was time for Girl to go home. She had to jump into the cyclone. She swirled through a tunnel, going downwards really fast.
THUD! She fell off her bed. Girl rubbed her bum....she looked around,found Rat up on the window still. Close shot of the Rat, now a soft toy, winked and THE END.
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION :
Alice in Wonderland, Spirited Away and The Cat Returns.
Basically, both Spirited Away and The Cat Returns have a similar story structure like Alice in the Wonderland
with the same premise ---believe in yourself, things will iron out eventually, no matter how it seems impossible at that moment.
In Spirited Away, Chihiro discovered the kingdom of spirits, her parents were transformed into pigs.
Aided by White Dragon, she had to find her courage to find a way out and to rescue her parents at the same time;
while in The Cat Returns, Haru discovered the Cat Kingdom. She was transformed into a Cat Princess, to be married to
a Prince Cat as her convictions wasn't firm enough. Aided by the Baron, Muta, she found her way out and became herself again.
